Colleges and Universities postpone classes to June 15, 2009

The CHED announced a day or two that classes for Colleges and Universities is postponed to June 15, 2009 for multiple reasons which includes the present outbreak of the Swine Flu H1N1 Virus in major universities in the Luzon region.

Palarong Pambansa 2009

Leyte (PTO Sports) – This years Palarong Pambansa is going to the Region of Leyte, which is dubbed as the Palarong Pambansa 2009. More than 10,000 athletes are part of this years national sport event representing their respective folks and areas in the Philippines which has 17 regions.

The Palarong Pambansa is a national gathering in a Filipino style to bring all the 17 regions of the Philippines close for a annual sports event where representative from the respective regions display their talents in their respective field of sports. My friend who lives in Leyte and was part of the Palarong Pambansa 2009 opening ceremony said: “The representative from Region Eleven looks good; while the female counterpart looks pretty.”

I have no information so far who has represented Region 11 in the opening ceremony but, let’s hope that this year’s Palarong Pambansa will be a lot of fun and a fruitful sports occasion for the Davao City region (kasi, taga-Davao ako). Read more about the Palarong Pambansa.

Davao City suspends class today

Major schools and universities in the Davao City Region have decided to suspend classes right away even before they have actually started. Davao is experiencing a heavy rainfall just like it has experienced it a few months back during the opening of classes for S.Y 2008-2009.

The difference this time is that the rainfall seems to be of a different kind and may be more severe, just like what has happened to our brothers and sisters in the Cagayan de Oro and the Misamis Oriental Region. Weather is expected to remain wet and rainy for the next couple of days until Sunday, or at worst for a whole week through.
